Why level a camper
Sleeping with your head lower than your feet is no fun, doors swing open by themselves, water doesn't drain from the shower, and many absorption fridges only work well when the vehicle is close to level – check your fridge's manual for its limit.
Step by step
- Calibrate Loodis once at home on any table.
- Lay the phone flat on the floor or a worktop in the middle of the vehicle, top of the phone towards the front.
- Level side to side first: drive the low side onto levelling ramps until the left–right reading is close to zero.
- Then front to back: use ramps or the jacks at the low end.
- Done when the phone vibrates. With Pro the whole screen turns green – you can see it through the window while you drive onto the ramps.
Tips for campers
- Zero on your own reference (Pro): if the floor of your van isn't level with the bed or the fridge, level the vehicle once properly, then press Zero on the floor. Next time, aim for zero.
- Sound guide (Pro): the beeps tell the driver which way to go.
- Hold the reading to show your partner outside.
- A slope of 1° over a 2 m wide van is about 35 mm at the wheels – Loodis shows that in millimetres with Pro.
